 Beautiful tennis courts are for everyone, not only Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer. You may hone your strokes on some of the most stunning tennis courts in the world, which are situated in towns, bustling metropolises, the Italian Amalfi Coast, and high above New York City. These courts are exquisitely designed and set in scenic locations.

Tennis court design, or the design of any sport facility, combines an artistic challenge with a systematic simplicity. All courts are similar in numerous aspects: They are all marked with the identical baselines, service boxes, and three-foot net. They are 78 feet long and 36 feet wide, and they are ideally aligned from north to south. When done well, creating something original can be challenging but rewarding because there are so many preset components.

    • San Paolo Converso (Milan, Italy)

      You can see a functioning tennis court and an artwork by American artist Asad Raza in the image above. The work, named Untitled (Plot for Dialogue), was motivated by Raza's passion for the game. When CLS Architectti converted the chapel into its offices in 2015, this was one of several revolving art exhibits it held.

Burj Al Arab Helipad (Dubai, UAE)

In 2005, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai extended an invitation to Roger Federer and Andre Agassi to play a friendly match on a helipad. The Dubai Duty Free Men's Open was being promoted, therefore the landing area was briefly transformed into a court. The views from the pad, which floats 656 feet above sea level, are unmatched and almost breathtaking.

This might be the one location where tennis fans would have trouble keeping an eye on their beloved Roger Federer, should he ever decide to play here. Located at the Sportchalet in Mürren, these courts are situated some 5,400 ft above the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
